UnderWire Networking Night for Female Filmmakers

by Asha

Calling all ladies of the creative industries! UnderWire will be gearing up to host the north’s networking night for female filmmakers. Tickets are £6 from the eventbrite site, or are available on the door at The Black Lion. (Salford, M3 5BZ)

UnderWire is all about giving a strong platform, a safe space and a community to female filmmakers who are, by and large, a minority within the industry.

UnderWire, the UK’s only short film festival dedicated to showcasing the raw cinematic talents of women, is heading to Manchester. This debut event will include a screening of the 2011 festival winners, an opportunity to network (with a free tipple), and an ‘open mic’ session where local women filmmakers (that includes women working across all the crafts) can screen their shorts, or a work-in-progress, for audience feedback. A safe peer-to-peer network to gain constructive feedback on your latest projects, the Underwire Networking events will provide female filmmakers working across the crafts a meeting point to find new collaborators, start conversations and get creative together. Come along and join UnderWire Co-Directors Gemma Mitchell and Helen Jack and Manchester UnderWire ambassador, Gemma Deerfield,  for a drink and a chat.

UnderWire’s founders Gabriella Apicella and Gemma Mitchell launched the festival in 2010 with the belief that women working in the UK film industry needed more encouragement and a bigger platform for their work.

Tickets are limited – so make sure you don’t miss out on what could be a great opportunity for your career!
